BRP 180 Conversion kit installed 56k warning

Postby BaliLover » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:51 pm

I picked up the 180 Zx6 wheel conversion kit from BRP a while back and just got around to getting it installed. I provided my own used wheel so I could polish the lips and didn't have to buy a tire. The kit fit PERFECTLY, take the original hub off, take the sprocket off, put the new hub on the wheel, put the sprocket back on, and put the wheel back up.

The 180 feels more stable to me but it might be all in my head, I seem to balance the bike with less effort than normal at low speeds and I feel more confident in leaning the bike into corners and curves. I'm running it with the stock zx6 tire but even that seems to be an improvement over the stock 650 tire. The 180 tire clears everything with no trimming necessary, but the clearance with the chain guard is very close.

Now, on to the pictures.

Next step is to polish and paint the front wheel but the weather is too nice to take the bike off the road right now.

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question, but I have looked at the other threads on this subject, and the question hasn't been asked!
This upgrade is just the wheel, or does the swing arm get replaced also to help clearance?
thanks!!

BTW, it looks great!!!!! :cool

It is an upgrade that allows you to put a larger wheel on to the bike, which in turn allows you to put a larger tire on the wheel. The upgrade doesn't get you a wheel, it gets you the machining\parts needed to successfully put a bigger tire\wheel on the bike. If I remember right, the hub gets machined down, as well as the wheel spacers, to make the chain line up properly with the front sprocket.

No, no swingarm replacement. Replacing the swingarm sucks anyway (I would think most avoid it if they can), those needle bearings are a pain in the balls :)

Actually mine is a complete kit, ready to bolt on, including the wheel{greystone}
I've sold a couple to those whom already have a wheel.
