AHRMA BOT F3

Postby cknauf » Sat Mar 06, 2010 9:07 am

Just back from Daytona and AHRMA's Battle of the Twins Formula 3 race. My EX650 took 6th on the first day and 3rd on the second. Beaten by SVs the second day, and SVs a Duc800, and an 83hp EX500 the first day. Here's the start/first lap on the second day:

I am dying to experience my first track on a motorcycle. What all have you done to the 650? Tires, engine, suspension etc...... Its nice to see a video of a 650 on the track, I was getting tired of seeing everything but 650 track videos.

@Gary - is that an official sponsorship offer? Wow, thanks!

@B Mo - I want to call it basically stock, but that'd be a lie. When going up against guys with built motors, I think I'm stock. Thanks to Gary, I snagged the last Arata full system in the WORLD and needed his clutch springs to handle the extra power. A PC3 allowed me to fix rich/lean spots in the fuel curve and get a few extra ponies (72.4rwhp). Catalyst bodywork, Woodcraft clip-ons, rearsets & frame sliders, Galfer SS front beake lines and Vesrah pads, Pirelli Diablo SC2 rear and SC1 front, Ohlins KA602 out back and .95 Traxxion springs, RaceTech emulators, and adjustable preload caps up front. I prefer gray primer over paint since it saves a few ounces (actually once I get over my crashing phase I'll paint)

Any of you can do this! I am a cheap bastard with limited means who just started racing July last year. Come on out a represent! We need more green on the grid :!:

I plan to be out on the track like you. I just need more experience and to work on the suspension. I want to do the traxxion springs and race tech emulators, but I know I am going to get raped taking it to a shop to have done. I do not know what I am doing as far as those mods. Keep us updated on your next races.

When I raced AHRMA a couple of years ago I had to race in the F2 class because I have different forks.
That put me against Ducati 748's and one ultra bad ass $50,000 NCR Ducati. I would have finished third, but the NCR crashed on the last lap. I'd pass him in the corners, and he'd get me on the straight.
I was super bummed to see that titanium framed work of art laying in the dirt.
But I still took 2nd place
:lol
