New 650R!

Postby weaver1911 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:41 pm

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and just wanted to show off my new bike. It's a 07 with 636 front end, convert-a-bars, and blue titanium FMF slip-on. I just picked it
up tonight and due to all the snow and crappy conditions here in Iowa, I haven't even ridden it yet! I apologize for the terrible pic, but its
dark out and the only camera I have is my junk cell phone. What do you guys think?

They're the convert-a-bar adjustable clip-ons for the 636. The top clamp is from the 636.

you are officially the first person to have convertibars on a stock-fairing 650R, for a few years people were saying they wouldnt clear the bodywork. do you have full lock to lock steering?

I think the shop install some kind of removable steering stops they made. I'd have to go out to the garage and look to see exactly what they did, but I'd say I have at least 95% or better steering travel.

Although I must say that if I wanted to lower the bars, they would hit the fairings.

I think the bike looks great! How close would you say that your riding position is compared to stock? almost looks like the Convertibars go up close to the Sportbar or SM height. Either way, the bike looks setup nice. Good job.

The bars are real close to the factory height. They are just a little more forward, which is good if you ask me. The best thing about the convert-a-bars is that you can change the bar angle. I wasn't a big fan of the original bar angle.

Here's some pics of how the 650 front fender is fit to the 636 forks.

Here's a pic of the inside of the fender since only the top fender mount of the 636 forks is used.
