***Important: Recall for 2009-2010 Ninja 650R!!!***

Mods, can you sticky this into each forum? People may not visit the General forum often enough. I received the letter today from Kawasaki for a recall to the 2009-2010 Ninja 650R (EX650C9F/L, CAF/L).

They warn not to ride the bike until this has been fixed!! It is truely a safety issue. I noticed it when I installed my aftermarket exhaust but thought it was due to me dropping the bike on that side. Please pass the word around to other owners so that we are all made aware of this.

I noticed that my brake pedal actually scrapes across my lower fairing. I thought that maybe it was due to the parked fall I had last year, but many times I tried to pull it back and it wouldn't budge. I thought that was it possible that I actually bent it in the fall, but after looking again when I got the recall letter today, I see no evidence that the brake pedal even hit the ground (no scuffs, no marks). And many times I have gone to hit the brake pedal and I hit the fairing with me foot (part outlined in red in 3rd pic) and I have to readjust to just get the pedal instead. May even ask the dealer to pull the brake pedal out a little more for me if I don't feel this new bracket will work.

Here are pics of what I mean.

Got mine in the mail yesterday. I have plenty of clearance, so I was a bit confused as to why until I saw this thread.

I'm curious to how they are fixing it.

I plan to continue riding mine before I get it fixed. Shouldn't have to rely on the rear brake on these bikes anyway.
