09 radiator on 08 model

Postby DerFoLiciouS » Sat Mar 31, 2012 1:53 pm

I was recently the victim of a hit and run, and due to being swindled when making my insurance policy I now have a severely damaged bike and little money to work with. The dust has settled, I am starting to feel healed, and I have reclaimed my bike.

Most of the damage is to the front left side, and I have decided that my only course of action is to make this bike a street fighter. The main problem I am running into is that the radiator is pretty shot. It has a leak, and I know it needs to be replaced. I have a line on one locally, but it's from a 2009, and my bike is a 2008. I was wondering if I can make this work with a little bit of effort, or should I search further for a 08 radiator?

I will probably email the man himself at BRP if it comes down to it, as the selection on eBay is rather sad.

I investigated this before I had one built for my racer. I'm 95% sure its a straight bolt on. The tabs are all in the same place. It just has that extra bit built into the side for a little more coolant capacity. Even if its not a straight brainless half a six pack easy slip-on, it would be easy to make it work and you'd get the benefit of Kawasaki's "Cooling Upgrade" Bandaid.

If you don't wanna go that route, PM me with your email address and I'll send you pics and a price for my near perfect stock 2008 radiator.

Uhhh, got the 09. Didn't really fit too well. Its just a bit to large to mount on the existing brackets without some cutting and welding. Not sure what I am going to do. Do you have any tips on how you went about mounting the 09 on your 08? Or any pics for the one you had for sale, if you indeed still have it? You can email them to escortsighted@yahoo.com .
