Help urgent 3 hrs from home

Postby kawigreen » Sat Aug 25, 2012 9:13 pm

I'm three hours from home and noticed. At least 2 teeth on rear sprocket are broke no shops are open what do I do is it safe to ride home is it better to take e way an drive 70 constant or back roads at 55 with alot of stop and go. Or is it not safe and I should get a tow my main concern is obviously locking up the rear If it comes off. When in a lower gear and content sipped bike is surging alot too

If you got 2 teeth missing then your sprockets are probably in pretty bad shape. Safest bet would be a tow. Otherwise I'd choose the route that has the least stop and go. Basic physics says that it takes more energy to get an object in motion than it does to keep it in motion so it'd be less stress on your sprocket to maintain speed than stop and go.
